Systems Engineering
Systems Engineering denotes the use of engineering and organizing, but also philosophical capabilities and procedures.
The systems engineering process is characterized by a sequence of separate steps, like:
-
Gathering the needs for an adequate system and its user (respectively the customer).
-
Transformation of the needs into a technical specification and refinement of the elements for the system which is planned.
-
Co-ordination and definition of a “baseline” by all system responsibles
-
Consideration of environmental impacts, lifecycle of the planned system, serviceability and other effects (human factor, hazard, etc.) which are relevant for the design process
-
Targets definition and feasibility studies which are relevant for the management and design process.
To all above steps a long experience collected in several space projects can be provided if required for each specific phase of a project cycle. Beginning at phase A (Feasibility studies), phase B (Design and Development process), followed by phase C/D (Manufacturing, Assembly, Integration and Test), up to Phase E (Operation).
